Professional Development Workshops

The University of Kentucky Confucius Institute hosts several professional development opportunities throughout the year. In 2014, the UKCI was selected as the site for the Multi-state Chinese Teachers’ Professional Development Conference, which brought Chinese Teachers from across the US to Lexington for a weekend of instruction and praxis with esteemed Chinese language professionals.

Kentucky teachers have the opportunity to attend four professional development seminars throughout the school year on a variety of topics, including Chinese Art, Chinese Religion and Philosophy, Chinese Literature, and Modern Chinese History. Scholars in these disciplines lead these seminars and teachers receive relevant texts for further reading.

Kentucky Teacher PD

The UK Confucius Institute offers a series of four seminars on China: Chinese Religions and Philosophies, Chinese Art, Chinese Literature and Modern Chinese History.

These one-day seminars, presented by scholars in the field, are designed to enrich knowledge of these topics in preparation for their integration into classrooms.

Scholars lead these seminars and teachers receive relevant texts for further reading. Accommodations are provided for those educators who live more than a three-hour drive from Lexington.
