Student Ambassador Program

UKCI Student Ambassador Program

The UK Confucius Institute is a center for Chinese language, culture, art and business. As a gateway to China for the university and the Commonwealth, the Institute serves as a conduit for many of UK’s China initiatives, facilitating a range of China exchange programs across the campus and beyond. The CI Student Ambassador Program is a great opportunity for students who are interested in working with Confucius Institute to get involved and represent the best of what Confucius Institute has to offer. These student ambassadors will help CI to promote events and programs, to provide support from CI to UK students, staff and faculty, and to forge important community relationships through Chinese cultural outreach to people in the Commonwealth.

To be considered for a position as an Ambassador, applicants must:

  • Be a full-time student with a GPA of at least 3.0

  • Actively attend scheduled meetings, dates TBD

  • Commit to the role and responsibilities for one year

  • Demonstrate leadership, confidence, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity

  • Support the CI by promoting CI cultural and academic programs and events

The CI Student Ambassador program will help students to develop leadership and cross-cultural communication skills, to gain valuable work experience to add to their resumes. Also, a select number of students will have the opportunity to visit China for two weeks with UKCI’s Young Leaders Trip in the summer of 2017.
