Andrea Gils, a native of Uruguay, is the marketing and communications manager at the University of Kentucky International Center, where she supports the University of Kentucky’s strategic initiatives for internationalization; and the International Center’s units including Recruitment, International Student & Scholar Services, Partnerships & Research, Education Abroad & Exchanges, Confucius Institute, Office of China Initiatives, Global Health Initiatives and International Health, Safety & Security. Her work at UK spans various specialties including strategic planning, research and analytics, assessment, multicultural communications, issues and crisis communications, creative, digital strategy, website development, media relations. Her past client portfolio includes Fortune 100 companies such as Wells Fargo and Walmart, as well as a diverse mix of PR sectors including b2c, food and beverage, non-profit, plastics and rubber, financial and health care. She is the PRSSA Liaison for the Public Relations Society of America New Professionals Section Executive Committee and a member of the PRSA Thoroughbred Chapter. Gils earned her bachelor of science in public relations and bachelor of arts in journalism from Southeast Missouri State University, and her CertTESOL degree from Trinity College London.
