Given Hanban’s funding cycle, most speakers can only be accommodated during the Fall semester. The UKCI will fund up to five speakers in one year (1 in the Spring and 4 in the Fall).
Please complete the form below by March 6, 2019.
The applications will be reviewed and voted by the UKCI Steering Committee which consists of faculty from across campus.
Based on the selection of the Steering Committee, we will notify the successful faculty as quickly as possible following selection. (This will normally be the beginning of April).
Hosting faculty should then proceed with the invitation. Please note, however, that funding is contingent upon Hanban final approval of the UKCI budget, which may not come until July 2019.
For additional questions, please contact Madelyn Higdon at firstname.lastname@example.org
The hosting faculty (and his/her Department) is responsible for taking care of all the logistic details.
Responsibilities include: making reservations of the speaker’s flight and hotel, meal arrangements, presentation space booking, airport pick up and send off, and advertisement.
The hosting faculty should also collect the receipts from the speaker and submit all the receipts to UKCI within 10 days of the lecture’s conclusion (please note that meal receipts should be itemized and alcohol receipts should be separate from the meal receipt). In the advertisement, it must mention: “UK Confucius Institute Distinguished Speaker Series” on the top of the flyer.
In order to save faculty’s time and avoid speaker paying out of their own pocket for the airfare and hotel up front, UKCI’s staff can assist with the flight booking and hotel reservation (UKCI’s designated hotel: Hilton or Gratz Park Inn).
UKCI can also assist with flyer design for the event. Hosting faculty must submit the title, speaker’s short bio (150 words), time and location of the event to UKCI at least 30 days prior to the event.
