Confucius Institute

Kentucky’s Gateway to China

The Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky is a center for Chinese language, culture, art and business. A gateway to China for the university and the Commonwealth, the Institute serves as a conduit for many of UK’s China initiatives, facilitating a range of China exchange programs across the campus and beyond. The Institute also works to strengthen China studies at the university, while at the same time providing leadership and support for Chinese language programs in Kentucky’s K-12 classrooms, and forging important community relationships through Chinese cultural outreach to people in the Commonwealth.

Re-Opening Campus Webinar Series

As UK plans for fall 2020 campus restart, UKCI leveraged its Chinese university partners to host a webinar series where a wide variety of panelists are sharing their experience in dealing with the pandemic, campus management, communications, course delivery and student, faculty and staff affairs, among other topics.

Our first webinar of the series - “Re-Opening Campus: Lessons from our Chinese Partners” - was held May 21.

The second webinar, held June 19,  focused on re-opening from the K-12 perspective.
