This research-based program offers students the opportunity to conduct research in social or environmental science while further offering each student the ability to design and conduct their own research project under the supervision of knowledgeable and experienced local researchers. Students will enroll in GEO 365: Special Topics in Regional Geography: Society and Environment in Oaxaca, Mexico (3 credit hours); GEO 431: Political Ecology (3 credit hours); and GEO 406: Field Studies in Geography: Undergraduate Field Research Experience, Oaxaca, Mexico (3 credit hours).

Summer in Copenhagen (DIS)

DIS offers a wide range of academically stimulating, cutting-edge courses taught with a focus on interaction and real-life experience: all courses feature field studies in Copenhagen to bring classroom discussions to life. Courses include Climate Change: Past & Present, Danish Greenspace, Stolen Childhoods: Immigrant and Refugee Children in Europe, Corporate Social Responsibility, and much more.

Take the semester to enjoy living and studying in Italy with API at the John Cabot University in Rome. During this semester-long program, you'll get to take a variety of course offerings available in both English and Italian with other international students. Founded in 1972, John Cabot University is an independent, four-year, U.S.-accredited liberal arts university located in Rome. Centrally located in the quaint Trastevere neighborhood, JCU is a only short walk away from the Tiber River and many of Rome’s most historic sites. The school is named after the Italian navigator, Giovanni Caboto, or John Cabot, whose exploration helped to open relations between Italy, England, and North America.

The friendly, cosmopolitan city of Bilbao is a cultural epicenter in northern Spain and is just minutes from the coast. On this ISA program, students will be studying at the Universidad de Deusto. There students can take a wide variety of courses and earn up to 16 credits per semester.

Join UK professor Dr. Tony Stallins on this program in the Netherlands! Open to all majors, the KIIS Netherlands 4-week program focuses on urban design and planning, geography, sustainability, climate change, and health and sexual studies. We will stay in three Dutch cities, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague. You can earn UK ENS 300, GEO 316, and/or GEO326 credit + enroll in additional courses to earn up to 6 credit hours. The Netherlands consists of twelve lowland provinces located in northwestern Europe on the North Sea. As a small but densely populated country at and below sea-level, the Netherlands is well known for its innovations in coastal policies, the livability of its cities, its unique architectural and landscape design, as well as an openness to new ideas that has long fostered an abundance of art and culture

The North Shore City region covers 120 km of coastline and includes more than 30 sandy swimming beaches. This virtual Global Semester program gives you the opportunity to register for a minimum of one and a maximum of four online courses at Massey. Registering for four online courses means you are participating on this program in full-time status. You can also register for 1-3 online courses at Massey while also registering for courses at UK.
