Students will study current neuroscientific theories that explain the motivation for drug use as well as those biopsychosocial mechanisms that mediate the progression from drug use to drug dependence and addiction. These theories will be applied to better understand cultural differences that exist between the US and the Netherlands regarding drug use, dependence, and treatment.

Did Michelango hide anatomy in the Sistine Chapel? Explore the intersection of medicine, history and art across Italy. Join Dr. Kristen Platt this summer in Italy at some of the oldest universities in the world to study the field and history of human anatomy. Students will explore cultural destinations such as the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Vatican Museum to dive deeper into the public displays of anatomy from ancient to modern times.

Korea University is one of the Korea's oldest, largest and top-ranked universities. Known as the "Ivy League" private university in the country, Korea University is a world-class institution featuring a dynamic educational environment, beautiful and conveniently-located campus, and top-quality student facilities. With a variety of courses in business, sciences, arts, humanities, social sciences, applied sciences, and even more specialized fields, you will have the opportunity to take courses for your major, minor, and general education requirements. All courses are taught in English by local and international faculty, with the exception of the Korean language course. No Korean language experience is required to participate. The classes are comprised of Korean students, ISA students, and visiting international students from all over the world.

Lab & Research Session, Summer in Scandinavia (DIS)

Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden

Over the course of 6 weeks, students can earn 6 hours of academic credit by participating in a lab or research opportunity in Copenhagen or Stockholm. Experiences include medical or neuroscience simulations, or opportunities to collaborate on ongoing research projects as a Research Assistant. Past course offerings include: Neurometabolism in Neurodegenerative Diseases, Understanding Climate Change of Arctic Ecosystems Lab, Social Cognition in Infants and Young Children, and more!
