UK Volleyball team in China

Tuesday, June 3, 2014

UK’s volleyball team traveled to China for 14 days to participate in education, cultural exchange, and the CCLSKI Cup International Women’s Volleyball tournament. The team learned about Chinese culture while attending classes and training at Shanghai University.

Traveling by bullet train to Nanjing, then on to Beijing and Baoding, the Cats toured the cities and played against professional teams. After losing the first pair of matches, UK adjusted to their unfamiliar environment to win the final two.

Team member Shelby Workman wrote on a blog dedicated to the trip, “The sightseeing has been incredible. There is so much more in our world that we do not know about and I am enjoying the opportunity we have right now to experience it.”

The team returned to Beijing to tour a number of sites, including Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Silk Market, the Great Wall, and the 2008 Olympic Village, before heading home.
