Six students from the University of Kentucky will compete in Emory University’s Global Health Case Competition (GHCC) in Atlanta, Georgia, Saturday, March 17. This is the fourth year that UK will compete in Emory’s competition. Students from three teams that participated in UK’s GHCC were selected to form a new team for the competition.

University of Kentucky doctoral student from Benin, West Africa, Sheila Sagbo recently played a primary role as a research specialist on a policy analysis matrix (PAM) project in Haiti. Sagbo worked with agricultural economics professor Michael Reed of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and former doctoral student Didier Alia. Alex Winter-Nelson of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign advised the project.

The 2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Scholar competition is now open. The Fulbright Scholar Program offers more than 400 awards in support of research,  and/or teaching awards in more than 125 countries. Candidates from a variety of backgrounds are eligible – from university faculty to lawyers, artists, journalists and more.

Trey Cardwell only applied to one school for undergrad, the University of Kentucky. When the time came to choose a graduate program to continue his education, once again he chose UK. "One of the reasons I chose to stay at UK was because the opportunities were so much greater, especially in the field of sexual health," Cardwell said.

Haotian Zhang’s love for the University of Kentucky’s (UK) men’s basketball team has offered him some exciting opportunities. This month, the senior had the unique chance to be a commentator at a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) game, University of Dayton Flyers versus the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams. Zhang was able to provide commentary in Mandarin, his native language, for the game’s Chinese viewers.
