But Maria Quinones was relieved to see her 3-year-old son return to his playful self after recovering from surgery at Kentucky Children's Hospital.

UK students are learning to work effectively as in interprofessional teams to provide health services to individuals and communities in an international setting. The Interprofessional Teamwork in Global Health course is part of Shoulder to Shoulder Global's (STSG)Ecuador brigade program. STSG is a UK unit that engages multiple academic and community partners to improve the health and well-being of impoverished communities overseas.

From A to Z, the Education Abroad Fair showcases every international education opportunity available at the University of Kentucky.  Students will find a range of global options, including study, intern, research, teach, and service abroad programs.  In addition, campus offices involved in the education abroad planning process, such as Financial Aid, the J. W. Stuckert Career Center and others, will be available to answer questions.

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador on Saturday, April 16. The epicenter was in Manabi province, in the Ecuadorian coastline, where many cities and villages have been devastated. According to CNN, the quake has killed at least 413 people and more than 2,500 have been injured. Several countries and organizations have come together to support to the Ecuadorian people, including a group of Ecuadorian physicians who are completing their residency and fellowship training in the U.S., Canada and Spain. Among these physicians is pediatric neurology resident at UK HealthCare, Dr. Ana C. Albuja.

La Universidad de Kentucky y la Fundación 'Hombro a hombro' invitaron a la UDLA, a través de la Dirección de Salud Global, a formar parte de las brigadas de salud, que ambas instituciones realizan en Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. Esta actividad se desarrolló entre el 06 y 11 de agosto, en seis parroquias rurales de Santo Domingo, en las cuales participaron ocho estudiantes y ocho docentes y funcionarios de las carreras de Medicina, Fisioterapia y Enfermería.
