About Madelyn Higdon

Madelyn Higdon is the Assistant Director of the Office of China Initiatives at the University of Kentucky. Her Chinese name is 何美琳。 Madelyn is from Western Kentucky but has spent half her life in the Lexington, KY area.

Madelyn has always been very passionate about East Asia. She triple-majored in East Asian Studies, Global Studies, and Japanese at North Central College, where she also studied abroad in Tokyo, Japan at Aoyama Gakuin Daigaku. After graduating, she studied in Guilin, China at the Chinese Language Institute. Madelyn made her way back to Kentucky for graduate school where she studied Security and Diplomacy studies at the UK Patterson School of International Commerce and Diplomacy.  

As Assistant Director of the Office of China Initiatives, Madelyn works with the Executive Director to manage the ongoing development and expansion of OCI programming and strategic planning.
