A faculty-directed study abroad program is a University of Kentucky course designed and led by UK faculty or staff. These programs provide students with the chance to engage in immersive learning experiences, combining traditional classroom instruction with hands-on activities and cultural exploration. The guidance of the faculty members ensures academic continuity while enabling students to gain firsthand insights into different cultures and environments, fostering personal growth and a deeper understanding of global perspectives.

Summer Dance Immersion - Berlin

Accepted students will participate in two weeks of workshops at the b12 International Dance Festival in Berlin, Germany.  This contemporary dance festival includes rigorous daily training in contemporary dance and somatics, as well as opportunities for professional networking, moderated panels and discussion, improvisation, and live performance, in a vibrant multicultural community.  Students will learn to navigate Berlin with confidence as they commute to and from festival activities. All classes are taught in English.

Art & Design in Krakow

School of Art and Visual Studies in collaboration with students and faculty at Poland's prestigious Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. Jana Matejki w Krakowie (The Academy of Fine Art in Krakow/ ASP) will study Design and Printmaking in the heart of Krakow's old city. This unique program will offer students the ability to study the reach art and culture of Southern Poland in the facilities of one of the countries most prestigious Art Schools. Students participating in the program will be paired with ASP students to collaborate and exchange ideas while creating art at the Academy. This will enable students to not only cover the standard LOs for the course but create a unique experience gaining knowledge and experience of Polish and Eastern European Traditions in art and design. Krakow is a renowned in Europe for its printmakers and graphic artists. Additionally students will be able to see many historic sights in the city.
