UK International Center announces 2023 Global Impact Award winners

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 8. 2023) — The International Center at the University of Kentucky has announced the 2023 UK Global Impact Award winners. Recipients comprise faculty, staff, alumni and community members who have significantly contributed to the university’s global engagement through education, research and service, as well those who have fostered a culturally diverse, welcoming environment.

International postdoctoral scholar helping fight bone cancer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 17, 2023) — Originally from India, Namrata Anand now calls Lexington and the University of Kentucky home. A postdoctoral scholar in the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, Anand is part of a team conducting research into potential life-saving treatments for bone cancer. This rare type of cancer is most likely to affect those younger than 20 years old.

Longtime UK-University of Burgundy partnership to expand

Ph.D. student from Lebanon fulfills lifelong dream at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 1, 2023) — For Ashtarout Ammar, the journey to the University of Kentucky wasn’t an easy one. Originally from a small town in the east mountains of Lebanon near the Syrian border, Ammar grew up in an area where access to higher education was extremely limited, especially for women. Now, she is close to achieving her dream of finishing her Ph.D. in engineering at the University of Kentucky.
