LEXINGTON, KY. (Jan. 9, 2015) — The University of Kentucky Confucius Institute and the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the UK College of Communication and Information, along with the Community Edition of the XinMin Evening News, the largest evening newspaper in Shanghai, hosted the second Sino-U.S. Community Media Seminar Friday, Jan. 9, at the UK Boone Center. The seminar was preceded by a visit to the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Danville Advocate-Messenger on Thursday.

The Late Night Film Series and The Department of Modern and Classical Languages have teamed up to present to students, faculty, and families our first Chinese Film Series. This series focuses on a variety of films that reflect contemporary Chinese culture. It is the intention of this series to give a better understanding of how China came to be today. By showing both films and documentaries, we hope to present multiple perspectives about China. The films are screened on Thursdays at 7pm at Worsham Theater in the Student Center. Free popcorn will be available at every screening!
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 15, 2015) – The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees today accepted a contribution of $1.7 million from Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) to establish a Model Confucius Institute. The funding, which will be matched by the university, will pay for the renovation of an area at Lucille C. Little Fine Arts Library and Learning Centerdedicated to the institute.

Beginning in 2015, University of Kentucky's Office of China Initiatives (OCI) and Confucius Institute (UKCI) have offered UK Education Week @ Jilin University, a summer teaching program at Jilin University (JLU), in order to strengthen collaborative teaching and research between the two universities. This year, due to the popularity of the program with students, the OCI and UKCI have increased the number of faculty they will send to China this summer from three to 10. Applications for this program are being taken now through Feb. 1.

All students participating in a for-credit Education Abroad program are required to attend a Pre-Departure Orientation as part of the EAP 599 course. Students will receive email invite to the orientations that are being offered for based on specific program types, experiences or terms.

Fulbright student, Sofia Ferraz, has spent the last few months dedicated to her postgraduate research in marketing, as well as exploring all that the University of Kentucky and Lexington have to offer. Over the months that she has spent at UK, Ferraz has been involved with multiple groups and societies both on campus and around Lexington.
UK Education Abroad will hold six Re-Entry (Welcome Back) sessions on campus. All students enrolled in EAP 599 are required ONE of the following sessions, all of which will take place in Whitehall Classroom Building at the below specified times
