Exchange

An exchange program offers a unique chance to delve into a different culture and academic setting for a full semester or year. They cost closest to your UK cost of attendance, making them a great deal for resident, in-state students.

Akita International University - Semester

The big attraction for UK students is that ALL of Akita International University's (AIU) undergraduate courses are taught in English. There is no Japanese language requirement but there is the opportunity to learn Japanese from scratch alongside your other classes if you choose.

Akita International University - Summer

Akita International University (AIU) Summer Intensive Japanese Language Program provides opportunities for learners to improve their Japanese language skills in small classes alongside Japanese and other international students, as well as to deepen their understanding of Japan through culture workshops and field trips to local sites.

Kansai Gaidai University (KGU) is a private institution enrolling approximately 10,000 students and is located in the city of Hirakata midway between Osaka, Japan's second largest industrial metropolis, and Kyoto and Nara, the ancient capitals of Japan.

Meiji Gakuin University

Meiji Gakuin University (MGU) is a private institution established in 1863 by an American medical missionary. The university's International Student Program (ISP) provides opportunities for English-speaking students from its exchange partners to learn about, and personally experience Japan and the Japanese language for a period of one or two semesters.

Direct enroll programs allow you to enroll directly as a non-degree seeking international student at a partner institution abroad. They're often the lowest cost option for out of state students.

UK is a member of ISEP - an organization offering direct enroll study abroad programs at universities  around the world. As a UK student you have access to this network of universities and the hundreds of areas of study they offer.

Summer Internship in Shinhidaka (Lexington Sister Cities Commission)

The Summer Internship in Shinhidaka provides a professional experience abroad while also helping you develop your Japanese language proficiency in an immersive setting. This unpaid internship is facilitated by the Lexington Sister Cities Commission and their sister city counterparts in Shinhidaka, Japan.
