Currently Enrolled UK Students
According to Administrative Regulation 4:9, all students earning academic credit through an education abroad program, whether through UK-endorsed programs or external ones, are required to apply through UK Education Abroad & Exchanges (UK EA) and receive approval prior to participation. The University of Kentucky defines “education abroad” as any global or NSE program that provides academic credit, either through enrollment in a UK course or transfer credit from another institution.
Failure to work with UK EA may result in program credits not being transferred back to UK or to be transferred incorrectly. If a UK student participates in a program without notifying UK EA, they will be required to retroactively register their experience for the term they were abroad. This will include enrollment in and payment for EAP 599, along with payment of the UK EA Application and Administrative Fees. Failure to follow this procedure may delay or prevent the awarding of credit.
Programs Completed Before Enrolling at UK
If a student completed an education abroad program before becoming a UK student, the UK Transfer Center will evaluate and facilitate the transfer of eligible academic credit in accordance with university transfer credit policies.
