Step-Up program connects UK student mentors with local immigrants

(May 8, 2024) — Started in Fall 2023 by Francis Musoni, Ph.D., associate professor of history and director of the International Studies program in the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences, Step-Up is an innovative service-learning program designed to support high school students from immigrant and refugee families to successfully integrate into the U.S.

UK Contracts with New Assistance Organization to Support International Travel

UK Surgery faculty make first in-person visit to Zambia’s largest teaching hospital through ACS H.O.P.E.

After years of virtual meetings and long-distance conversation, faculty members from the UK College of Medicine Department of Surgery were finally able to meet face-to-face with colleagues from the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, Zambia last January as part of the American College of Surgeons’ Health Outreach Program for Equity in Global Surgery (ACS H.O.P.E.).

UK School of Music, Ionian University to present free concert as part of cross-cultural exchange program

(March 12, 2024) ⁠— This March, faculty from the University of Kentucky School of Music will be performing a public concert with visiting faculty from Ionian University in Corfu, Greece. The Greek musicians are traveling to Lexington this spring as part of a cross-cultural exchange program, after UK faculty visited Ionian University last fall. 

UK and Gen.G bring back award-winning conference Campus Takeover

LEXINGTON, Ky, (Feb. 19, 2024) — The University of Kentucky and Global esports and gaming organization Gen.G are bringing back their award-winning collegiate esports industry conference, Campus Takeover, on March 30 and April 6. This two-day event will bring together esports professionals with students and administrators from different universities. UK continues to pave the way as an esports ecosystem leader in the SEC and Midwest region.

Nominations open for 2024 Global Impact Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 27, 2024) — The University of Kentucky International Center (UKIC) is seeking nominations for the 2024 UK Global Impact Awards. Nominations are being accepted through March 15, 2024. The UK Global Impact Awards recognize contributions towards enhancing UK’s global engagement through education, research and service, as well as fostering a culturally diverse, welcoming environment that is conducive to comprehensive campus internationalization.
