Global Wildcats graduate from UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 2, 2024) — Among the many challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, one particular challenge to navigate was how to accommodate the University of Kentucky's many new international students, who would be unable to begin classes in-person in the fall of 2020.

Nominations open for 2024 Global Impact Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 27, 2024) — The University of Kentucky International Center (UKIC) is seeking nominations for the 2024 UK Global Impact Awards. Nominations are being accepted through March 15, 2024. The UK Global Impact Awards recognize contributions towards enhancing UK’s global engagement through education, research and service, as well as fostering a culturally diverse, welcoming environment that is conducive to comprehensive campus internationalization.

Fulbright awardee leads reforestation effort in Australia

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 17, 2024) — For more than two decades, Chris Barton, Ph.D., professor of forest hydrology and watershed management in the University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, has been conducting research related to environmental pollution and the restoration of degraded lands. Primarily focused on coal mines in Appalachia, Barton’s research recently expanded to a more global scale.

Refugee finds a 2nd home at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 15, 2023)  In August 2021, as the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, many students in the country suddenly found themselves in limbo — unsure of whether or how to continue their education. As they searched for answers, and many fled their home country, the launch of the Kentucky Innovative Scholarship Pilot Project provided hope, and the University of Kentucky mobilized to provide a home away from home.

Applications open for seed funding to stimulate global research partnerships

UK receives APLU International Impact Award for Global Engagement

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 15, 2023) — In recognition of its commitment to furthering internationalization on campus and fostering a more diverse campus community, The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) has named the University of Kentucky the 2023 winner of the APLU International Impact Award for Global Engagement. The award was accepted on behalf of the university by Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration Eric Monday, Ph.D., at the annual meeting of the APLU’s awards ceremony. 

International Studies Program to host symposium on conflict-induced displacement
