The need for malpractice insurance will vary for each rotation participant. Students, faculty and staff, or non-University individuals, who provide patient care in clinical international programs sponsored by the University of Kentucky, whether credit-bearing or non-credit bearing, must purchase malpractice insurance and provide evidence of coverage to the UK Education Abroad and Exchanges office. Each rotation registration will have a questionnaire which asks for this information. If you're unsure if you need to be covered, please contact your faculty advisor or department.

Registering Your Time Abroad
UK HealthCare and UK Education Abroad and Exchanges work together to provide professional health care students with opportunities to complete clinical rotations in an international context.
If you're interested in completing an international rotation, your first step is to work with your college regarding available programs and approval for participation. Once you are approved to complete an international rotation, you will need to register your travel with UK Education Abroad and Exchanges.
As a registration system, UK Education Abroad and Exchanges will collect important information such as your itinerary, flights, passport information, malpractice insurance information, and more. You will need to have gained full approval from your college and completed your rotation registration with UK Education Abroad and Exchanges before you are able to travel.
