Undergraduate Steps to Becoming a Wildcat

Congratulations on your admission to UK! Now that you are officially a Wildcat, we need you to complete the next steps before arriving to campus. 

Make sure to read the information below to prepare for your arrival in Lexington. You will need to complete all tasks before attending orientation to register for classes.

Need the International Hold lifted? Holds are lifted only after students complete the New Student Information Checklist (see last step below).

    Please allow for 48-72 hours after receiving your acceptance letter from UK Admissions.

  • Register for International Orientation Register for Orientation

  • Pay your SEVIS Fee You will need to pay the I-901 Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee.

  • Apply for Housing, Dining and a Living Learning Program The only residence halls that remain open during university breaks are: Blazer Hall (International Village LLP), Boyd Hall, Smith Hall and Woodland Glen IV.

    A Living Learning Program, or LLP, is a group of students with similar majors or interests who live in a specific residence hall. The International Village LLP connects international students with U.S. students to form a community that focuses on learning about the world from and with each other.

    Please note: Nonimmigrants will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of their vaccination status to fly to the United States. Additionally, travelers will continue to be required to show documentation of a pre-departure negative viral test from a sample taken within three days of travel to the United States before boarding. To determine individual requirements and find a list of exceptions, use the CDC Travel Assessment tool found here.

  • Review Placement Testing Requirements Placement Testing

    New international students may be required to complete placement testing before registering for classes. Depending on your entrance scores or transfer credit, you may be required to complete testing in math, reading, or writing. You can review which test you need in the Student Services tab in myUK by clicking myRecords and then myProfile.

    Confirm your arrival in Lexington with ISSS by logging into icat.uky.edu and complete the "New Student Information Checklist" which will ask you to upload copies of important documents like visa, SEVIS payment receipt and others.
